Risk Management and Risk Control
Delegation of greater autonomy in financial operations, increase in volume of cross border business, greater international financial linkages, wider range of products and services and the growing diversities and complexities of banking business have increased the risks faced by banks manifold. Risk management and risk mitigation techniques are of paramount importance in to-days banking business.
The New Basel Accord is accordingly designed to align capital standards in accordance with the risk profile of credit institutions. The Minimum Regulatory Capital will have linkages with the level of credit risk, market risk and operational risk. A higher level of risk would require higher capital level.
Under the New Basel Capital Accord, banks may have option to assess their own risk profile and maintain capital. It would be essential for banks to set up an appropriate risk management framework to support an internal assessment of capital, both,regulatory and economic capital.
Banks also need to adopt risk based internal audit system to make and independent evaluation of risk management practices and procedures.
The seminar would provide the participants with an in-sight to the complexities of credit risk, market risk and operational risk management systems and strategies for
setting up internal models on risk management. It will also deal with the modalities for switch over to risk based internal audit system
